Our client, a well-established supplier of high-quality food ingredients in Ghana, is seeking to recruit a results-driven and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join its team.
ROLE PROFILE
The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the Accounts team with the accurate and timely processing of day-to-day financial transactions, including data entry, invoicing, reconciliations, and financial record-keeping, under the direction of the Head of Accounts. He/she will contribute to the smooth functioning of the finance function by ensuring all financial activities are recorded accurately and in compliance with organisational procedures.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Enter and process financial transactions, payments, and invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Reconcile and validate invoices against billings and goods or services received to ensure accuracy.
- Issue customer invoices and ensure proper documentation and filing of all billing records.
- Manage and process employee expense reimbursement requests in line with approved procedures.
- Make bank deposits and disburse funds as directed, maintaining accurate supporting records.
- Track and record project-related expenses against approved budgets in the accounting system.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, statements, and summaries as required.
- Maintain an organized and up-to-date filing system for all financial documents and records.
- Perform periodic reconciliations of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank statements.
- Liaise with vendors, suppliers, and internal staff on payment and invoice-related queries.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities as directed by the Head of Accounts.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Must have a minimum of HND, bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance or a related field.
- Part-qualification or active enrollment in a professional accounting body is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Tally) is a plus.
- Must have a demonstrated knowledge of bookkeeping practices, financial transactions, and accounting systems.
