PROCUREMENT OFFICER

Our client, an agricultural imports and exports company is looking for an individual with knowledge in procurement to fill the position of a Procurement Officer.

ROLE PROFILE

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company’s purchasing activities, identifying procurement needs, and managing supplier relationships. The chosen candidate will perform these duties as well as the following;

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research reliable suppliers and create and maintain relationships with vendors.
  • Develop plans for purchasing services and suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing and supply contracts to secure favourable deals.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure that the company is not in shortage of goods to meet customer demand.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse and ensure timely stocking of goods to avoid shortage and oversupply.
  • Identify and implement measures to reduce risks involved in the procurement process.
  • Work with team members to ensure that duties are completed well without complications.
  • Track procurement expenses and ensure expenses align with the company’s budget.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and apply them in day-to-day procurement activities.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in purchasing and logistics, supply chain management, marketing, or any related field of study is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of working experience in any institution.
  • Must have proven work experience as a Procurement Officer in any institution.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to negotiate contracts in the company’s interest.
  • Accurate attention to detail to ensure accuracy in contracts and agreements.
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be proactive and able to resolve issues quickly.
  • Ability to manage and work well with staff.
  • Ability to multitask to ensure the smooth running of procurement duties.
  • Must be adaptable to change and propose new ideas to improve daily activities where necessary.
  • Must be goal-oriented and an active team player.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients.
