FIELD OPERATIONS OFFICER

Our client, a company specialising in providing commercial riders with vehicle subscription and rental services, is looking to hire a reliable, smart, and dedicated individual to assist with the operations of the company in the capacity of a Field Operations Officer.

ROLE PROFILE

The successful candidate will be playing a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the company’s day-to-day operations. He/she will be overseeing field activities while ensuring the safety of champions/clients, lives, and company properties

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Respond to emergency calls from champions/clients
  • Ensure champions/clients follow rules and regulations as prescribed in the contract
  • Ensure the company’s properties are not in the custody of law enforcement agencies
  • Liaise with the welfare officers concerning champions/clients
  • Maintain a register of first aiders and ensure the adequate provision of first aid and welfare facilities
  • Undertake daily safety inspections of the company’s properties
  • Investigate or arrange for all accidents and near-misses to be investigated and prepare a report
  • Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
  • Promote good health, safety, and environmental practices in the company
  • Review the health, safety, and environment policy statements annually
  • Develop, monitor, and implement effective risk assessment management strategies
  • Consult with the management team and provide appropriate advice on best-practice policies and procedures
  • Provide technical and administrative direction to all levels of the company in support of health and safety environment objectives
  • Identify and advise on safety issues in the company operations
  • Maintain accident statistics, analyse trends, and propose solutions where necessary
  • Liaise with other organisations and relevant authorities, and provide assistance and cooperation concerning remedial actions
  • Ensure organisation-wide commitment to environmental management
  • Identify opportunities for continuous environmental improvement and implement programmes to deliver solutions
  • Manage and control recycling and waste management procedures
  • Develop and implement security policies, protocols, and procedures
  • Control budgets for security operations and monitor expenses
  • Plan and coordinate security operations for specific events and supervise security officers and guards
  • Coordinate staff when responding to emergencies and alarms
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate disaster preparedness training
  • Design a plan to ensure preparedness in and procedures for emergencies
  • Keep updated knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations that may affect emergency plans
  • Analyse damage following accidents to identify ways of minimizing such damage and maximizing it as learning curves
  • Oversee the safety program and provide strategies and risk assessment decisions to minimize injuries and protect equipment
  • Participate in debrief meetings to evaluate the readiness of staff and the efficacy of emergency plans
  • Assist with the development of a budget for emergency management programs
  • Work with marketing to promote emergency management programs to the city, businesses, media, service organizations, etc.
  • Promote and advance the safety culture in the organisation
  • Conduct an organisational-wide health and safety workshop
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of staff safety training requirements and maintain records, including compliance records
  • Ensure organization-wide compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and regulations
  • Ensure, at minimum, legal compliance and reduce the risk of non-compliance
  • Collate and report to the Management team health and safety statistics on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Delegate responsibilities to ensure staff members grow as capable participants and decision makers
  • Understand recruitment and selection related to workforce planning and its implications for productivity
  • Promote the company’s mission and values. Coach, manage, counsel, appraise, and discipline employees
  • Develop, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards
  • Develop and drive a culture of performance and achievement of goals
  • Identify ways of promoting employee engagement and encouraging creativity
  • Emphasise cultural alignment with the organisation’s culture amongst the team

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Must have a minimum of an Ordinary Level Diploma or its equivalent, or a bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety or any related field
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of work experience as a field operations Officer or a minimum of 5 years or more years of experience as a Health and Safety Manager or in any related position
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Certification is a plus (relevant certification in health and safety (e.g. NEBOSH IGC, HSE level 1-3)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to ride a two-wheeler
  • Must be confident and outspoken
  • Ability to communicate well in the language of the city and English
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office tools
  • Ability to conduct risk assessment, be accurate, and pay attention to details
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
  • Must possess excellent knowledge of health, safety, and the environment
  • Must possess excellent knowledge of security protocols and procedures
  • Must possess report writing skills
