ACCOUNTANT

Our client an agricultural export and import company is hiring a dedicated individual to assist with the company’s affairs as an Accountant.

 ROLE PROFILE

The successful candidate will be responsible for recording financial adjustments, managing revenue, expenses, assets and liability of the company. He/she will perform these duties in addition to the following.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and prepare accurate financial statements.
  • Ensure financial records comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Prepare budgets, monitor expenditure and ensure that the company stays within the budget.
  • Advise management on tax planning strategies to minimise tax liabilities.
  • Recommend ideas for cost reduction and financial efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop budgets, forecasts and long-term financial strategies.
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and apply updates to internal processes.
  • Develop and implement strong accounting financial controls to safeguard assets and ensure data accuracy.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly and annual close processes of the company.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external audits and ensure all documentation and processes meet regulatory and compliance standards.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of an HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of working experience as an Accountant in any institution.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess analytical skills to identify problems and recommend solutions.
  • Must possess effective communication skills to interpret accounting to non-stakeholders and work well with diverse teams.
  • Ability to create and maintain a budget to suit the company’s resources.
  • Proficiency in accounting software.
  • Ability to pay attention to details to ensure accurate results.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at a goal and meet deadlines.
  • Must have knowledge of technical accounting skills.
  • Ability to maintain organised records for future reference.
  • Ability to present data to customers and senior management in a clear and understandable way.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to change in the business environment.
