SALES TRUCK DRIVER

Our client a leading logistics company is seeking interested and qualified persons to assist with the operations of the company as a SALES TRUCK DRIVER.
ROLE PROFILE
The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting goods to customers’ location while actively engaging in sales activities to promote company products or services. He or she would be required to render services in an efficient manner in line with the company’s way of driving by complying with the company’s health and safety standards throughout the year. This role requires exceptional driving skills, customer service, and salesmanship.
He or she will perform the following duties as well:
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely operate a delivery truck to transport goods to customers’ locations within designated routes and schedules.
- Actively engage in sales activities during delivery stops, including product presentations, demonstrations, and upselling to customers.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring customer satisfaction during deliveries.
- Manage inventory levels on the truck, including restocking products as needed and conducting regular inventory checks.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, sales transactions, and customer interactions.
- Plan efficient delivery routes to optimize time and resources.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on the delivery truck, including checking fluids, tire pressure, and mechanical components.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Provide regular sales reports and updates to management regarding sales performance, customer feedback, and market trends.
- Cultivate strong relationships with customers to foster repeat business and generate referrals.
- Handle incoming and outgoing cargo by properly examining for defects, accuracy, and ensuring there is no damage.
- Assist in loading and unloading trucks at client’s premises and their customers’ yards.
- Ensure conscientious practice of safe work habits and processes.
- Maintain both the inside and outside of the truck cleaned at all times.
- Report accidents/incidents as per company standards.
- Ensure defects on trucks are immediately reported to the maintenance team.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of SSCE/SHS qualification.
- Should have at least 3 years of experience in driving trucks and must have received defensive driving training in the past two years.
- Must have experience as a Sales Truck Driver.
- Must hold a license F or better with a clean driving record.
REQUIREMENTS
- An excellent knowledge of basic truck maintenance concepts is highly desired.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Familiarity with sales techniques and strategies.
- Ability to read, write and perform basic arithmetic.
- Proven experience in sales or customer service roles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of electronic devices to complete tasks such as scanning delivery notes using phones, digitally completing road inspection of trucks, etc.
- Possess high integrity and honesty.
- Ability to foster excellent driver and mate cordiality.
- Physical stamina to lift and move heavy items.
- Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of using containers or lashing belts.
